When the public needs help they often call upon a
private investigator and when many PIs need help or specific
direction, they call Jimmie Mesis. His reputation as an
experienced and talented investigator, a successful businessman,
and his passion for the investigative profession has made Jimmie
a frequently requested mentor, instructor, motivational speaker
and presenter at conferences throughout the USA and England.
His career as a private investigator started after serving as a
military translator in the United States Marine Corps. He became
a private investigator in 1979 and quickly learned and mastered
the art of finding people and conducting surveillance on the
streets of New York City. What many people may not know about
Jimmie is that he was a volunteer firefighter for 30 years, past
president of the International Firefighters Association, and was
one of the many firefighters that had responded to the 9/11
World Trade Center disaster.
Jimmie has been recognized as an expert at finding people having
located several thousand individuals throughout his career. Many
of these people included locating custodial kidnapped children,
which he often recovered and returned to the rightful parent
under a court order. He gained national recognition as a
featured investigator for the History Channel television show,
Operation Reunion. There, Jimmie located and reunited soldiers
who had not seen each other since the battlefields of Korea and
Vietnam. He later went on to be featured in the FX television
series, P.I. and as a guest on various radio and television
shows including CNN’s Larry King Live. He is often quoted by the
Associated Press, USA Today, and several other national media
outlets. Each time, he has represented the profession in an
admirable manner.
His career as a private investigator has been uniquely diverse.
He and his investigator wife own and run several investigative
related companies, including
PI Magazine,
the only international trade magazine for private investigators;
PI.Store.com,
one of the largest single source suppliers of discounted
investigation titled books; and
PI Gear.com, a discount supplier of investigative gear and
surveillance equipment for private investigators and law
enforcement agencies.
He currently serves as the Legislative Chairman and Director for
NCISS – the National Association of Legal Investigators and an
Honorary Life Member for the Georgia Association of Professional
Private Investigators (GAPPI), and an Honorary Life Member of
the World Association of Professional Investigators from London,
England.
Jimmie is the recipient of numerous awards including: NJLPIA -
Investigator of the Year, NAIS - Speaker of the Year, the Hal
Lipset Award for Investigative Excellence presented by the World
Association of Detectives, a Leadership Award and the Duffy
Award, NCISS’s highest honor. Other awards include a Special
Achievement Awards from the World Investigators Network, a
Person of the Year Award from the Professional Association of
Wisconsin Licensed Investigators, and several recognition awards
from various investigative organizations.
Jimmie is also a past president of his state PI association and
a certification Board member with the United States Association
of Professional Investigators.
It is obvious that Jimmie’s passion for the investigative
profession and his reputation as a successful businessman has
made him Jimmie a frequently requested speaker at conferences
throughout the country. He is an active lobbyist for
investigators in Washington, DC. and in his home state of New
Jersey.
Jimmie is constantly helping, teaching, and showing his
colleagues on how to market and increase the growth of their
businesses. He currently mentors and consults private
investigators throughout the world.
